If your platelets were 480 K at a random blood test they are mildly elevated and best would be to see your primary care doc specifically if you had cell counts checked in the past in order to compare them. ER would be a poor choice as if you have no symptoms they will send you back to your doc. An exam, detailed history and likely repeat cell counts will be in place.
