I understand that cephalexin 250mg once nightly long term for uti will fail to work at some point? is it the same with hiprex and is hiprex long term safer?

I answered your question yesterday about these 2 drugs which are used as the suppressive therapy for recurrent lower urinary tract infection. Both will fail at some time in the future due to resistance (Cephalexin is an antibiotic, Hiprex is an antiseptic), none is safer than the other per my opinion. I, myself, do not favor suppressive therapy for recurrent UTI.
