I got ct scan of abdomen and pelvis last july and it showed inguinal lymphadenopathy and a possible inflammatory change in colon.my doctor wants to repeat ct to look at lymph nodes and since i've been ill for a year.should i worried about radiation?

It is correct that you are concerned about radiation exposure with CT of the abdomen and pelvis. I would not have it done if you have been free from all GI symptoms since then. The test is indicated if you are still suffering with lower GI symptoms; however, a colonoscopy with biopsy is more helpful for diagnosing chronic inflammatory bowel syndrome. I' m not concerned much about the adenopathy.

Yes there is some radiation associated with having a CT scan of the abdomen but it is considered to be a safe test when used for medical reasons. Most patients can have multiple CT scans(5-6 in a life time) before they exceed the safe dose limit. But in your case I would ask you to have a good physical examination to check the size of the lymph nodes, to not be concerned unless over 1 Cm in size
