A member asked:

If no steroid/nsaid drops are used at all after cataract surgery. does eye naturally has the ability to recover from the inflammation completely in due time?,provided patient is ready to bear the post surgical pain?

Would not agree: Ophthalmologists have post-cataract protocols to protect the patient from complications. A severe problem could be pan-ophthalmitis, which is severely painful and risky. Would follow precisely post-op directions and would not try to vary.

Not a good idea: The eye likely can recover from inflammation after uncomplicated cataract surgery. However, "likely" is not good enough. If one uses drops as prescribed, success rate with uncomplicated cataract surgery is almost 99%.
