Cataract : Cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure unless you are a child. Children are often kept overnight for observation. The time it takes to actually perform the surgery depends on the doctor and his/her experience. In an experienced hand (at least several years after the fomal training), the surgery takes anywhere from 4 minutes to 1 hour. With an average surgery time of 15 ~ 20 minutes. Average ophthalmologist performs approximately 150 cataracts per year. The cataract surgery is done one eye at a time. That is the second eye is typically done 1 to 4 weeks after the first eye if it is necessary. Caregiver is not necessary unless the patient has difficulty in putting in eye drops. Most patients can return to work the next day. The patient should ask how many cataracts are performed by his/her ophthalmologist per year. As well as the average surgical time for each case. They should also ask for the success rate from that surgeon.

Cataract surgery: Cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure which takes about 5-10 minutes. One eye is done at a time and you should not need a caregiver postoperatively in most cases. You will not stay in the hospital.

Cataract surgery: Cataract surgery is typically an outpatient procedure and most are done in outpatient surgical centers (some are still done in the hospital). Typically there is not hospital stay, the surgery takes about 5 minutes, and you are there fro about 30-40 minutes. If you can put drops in your eyes, you should not need a care giver at all.
