A member asked:

My husband has a torn rotator cuff and bi tendon.its been torn for 5 yrs and just now getting to the surgery. the doctor says after looking at the mri he needs to see an oncologist because of marrow hyperplasia in the humerus. likely cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Marrow hyperplasia ?: An incidental finding of what is described as "marrow hyperplasia" by an orthopedic physician may need an opinion by a hematologist/oncologist (the specialty does not only deal with cancer). Simple blood testing prior to contemplated surgery will confirm in general whether in fact there is "marrow hyperplasia".
