Yes: This is an excellent question. I would say yes (and to have them cover to cough and wash hands often). I will also refer this to other doctors to learn what our healthtap neonatologists, pediatricians and infectious disease experts have to say about exposure to 'germs' and long-term health.

Yes: Absolutely! i know how difficult this may be, but distance along with good handwashing are among the best preventative measures we can take. How far is not always clear, but 8-10 feet spacing seems to work.Remember a minor infection in 1 child may be a very serious one in another.

Yes: Parents should keep newborns away from sick people and people who might be sick (such as people who say they "just have allergies" and people who look well but have housemates at home with colds or the flu). Regarding sick toddlers, everyone except the primary caretakers should keep away from a sick toddler (there's no reason for other people to risk getting the toddler's illness).
