Weight gain: Please check the baby's weight. His weight should not be less than what he weighed at birth. Monitor the weight weekly to ensure that he is gaining weight. You should consult your doctor if he does not gain weight. In any case he should be checked in the well baby clinic at regular intervals.

Raises some concern: Newborns usually spend a lot of time sleeping and is considered normal, but they are also expected to have alert periods and to have adequate hunger cues to maintain growth. Your baby is always asleep and has very little hunger drive, is he losing weight, when you wake him does he appear vigorous? Does he have regular BM / adequate # of wet diapers? Please consult his pediatrician for guidance.
