A member asked:

Can a newborn suffer permanent brain damage after suffocating from blanket? no cpr was needed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Suffocating ?????: It is difficult to assess any supposed issue when no data is provided. Why do you say suffocation ? How long might the kid have been without oxygen? Can you really tell ? About 100 infants die in the US every year trapped in bedding or overlain by a sleeping parent. Your answers will need to come from those who evaluated the scene/baby at the time this was discovered.
