A member asked:

Post sca, ems cpr on scene before the person lost consciousness. cpr was done for 10 minutes until rosc. brain swelling preset a few hours after admitted to hospital. therapeutic hypothermia was conducted for 24 why does it not always work?

There is nothing 100% in medicine, or life. Agree with described interventions, but once brain swelling from ischemia and hypoxia, some permanent damage is expected and cannot be fully reversed. Hypothermia slows metabolism, and curtails further injury but it too does not reverse neuronal death.
