A member asked:

Would you do cpr on someone with a brain injury?

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Depends: This is a hard question to answer. The first question that has to be answered is, "what would the injured person want?" next, you have to get an idea with what ssort of a future the brain injured person would have. Making someone dnr is a hard decision, but it may be the correct thing to do. Get as much information as you can about prognosis from the doctors and use that to decide.

Yes: No circulation = no oxygen to your brain. Once airway is secure and there is no problem with getting air to your lungs, the most critical aspect of emergency aid is to circulate the patient's blood with CPR --- if the patient has no pulse.
