Depends on variables: If a kid has finished growing. doesn't play sports or work out & is not studying hard for anything they can get by on 8 hrs no mater how you space it. If you are still growing, active in sports or working out, and or studying hard for exams or homework it adds to the sleep need. Some will need as much as 12 hrs to maintain peak academic & physical performance.
