87 y/O?: Many people when they reach this age can be depressed , confused and have low energy because of that and or their medication. Best thing to do is be supportive , try to make her active , but do not be surprised if u can't.

Don't give up: Seek medical & psychiatric review to determine if and what conditions may be contributing and requiring intervention. . Demonstrate an interest in her and listen if she will talk. Try to determine what she likes and what motivates her and gently encourage her to engage in activities as tolerated.
