Have had a palpable lymph node in neck for over 10 yrs. us was done 15 years ago and showed permanent benign enlarged lymph node. no follow up recommended. no changes in size, shape. still small. should i be concerned it could have become cancerous?

Timing and results: Timing does not appear right as it sounds that the ultrasound was done before the lymph node becoming palpable, which is not the usual scenario. Also an US might show an enlarged lymph node, no comment is usually made as if temporary vs permanent. If no changes in size what would be the reason for concern?

No: You may feel the node every couple of weeks, if the lymph gland doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!
