I went to see a gynecologist yesterday who has stated that i have fibroids and need to have surgery. is it advisable to seek a second opinion or should i first try natural remedies to try and shrink them before opting for surgery?

2nd opinion needed: Uterine fibroids grow in response to your natural & artificial estrogen production over time. Surgery is one of many options for treatment including physician prescribed medications, focused ultrasound, uterine artery ablation, watchful waiting if contemplating future pregnancy. Natural remedies are generally not helpful. However, an informed 2nd MD opinion can help you sort through the options
