Concern: I agree that you should see a hematologist-although this could be a genetically low count, it can be related to other blood disorders.

Platelet levels: Under 50, you are at risk for spontaneous bleeds. Under 100, you are at risk from bleeds after major surgery. At 125, it is certainly lower than normal, but you are not at risk for major bleeding. IT would be appropriate to followup with your primary doc to determine an etiology, but you don't have to rush into a hematologists office thinking you are about to bleed out.
