Set sensible goals: Successful dieting requires that a person stick to a plan for months or years, so easier goals and small milestones are good. She must be happy with the foods she gets to eat, so severe calorie restriction is rarely successful. One can eat FEWER calories, enough to lose 1-2 pounds a week, and she will be more likely to stay with that modest type of plan. 1-2 pounds a week is 50-100 pounds a year.

No single secret: however I suggest starting by following "the 4 Fs" of good nutrition: fish, foul, fruit and fiber PLUS 8-10 glasses of water/day. Add high and low impact aerobics.

Lifestyle: Study after study shows that short-term diets are not effective in maintaining weight loss. What you need is lifestyle changes and eat in a healthy way from now on. Fewer carbohydrates and fats along with increased reliance on vegetables will be very helpful. Activity is also important so a regular exercise program is recommended. Make healthy lifestyle changes and avoid the yo-yo dieting.

Healthy weight loss: The absolute best way to lose weight is and always will be lifestyle choices, diet and exercise. You should: 1) track what you eat, try to calculate how many calories you eat per day and slowly try to decrease that number 2) start a manageable, consistent workout regiment (working out 30 -45 min/day for 4 days) 3) make sure you are managing your stress 4) plenty of sleep - 7 to 8 hours.
