What is question?: Tonsillitis can be caused by both viruses and bacteria. Viruses can cause a fever up to 5 d or longer and do not respond to Augmentin. Since Temp is low during the day, and rise at night, they do not pose a big risk of dehydration, and fever is used by the body to fight infection. If you child is very uncomfortable, acetaminophen is an alternate med for fever. Return to your doctor if fever >5
