Try OTC : He can take over the counter generic tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen for the fever. Either one will also help the throat pain. If the swelling in the throat gets bad and he can't swallow properly, especially if he starts drooling, he should be seen at an er.

Nothing ??: We have not had to use prescription meds for fever for more than 2 decades. Advil was once a prescription med for kids fever but went OTC decades ago. Given the frequency and usual home management of fever one would assume that would be common knowledge.
