It's not safe: to mix alcohol with benzodiazepines, as there is an additive or synergistic effect between these two chemicals that can seriously alter the chemical balance in your brain. This combination has been known to kill people before via respiratory depression, which means that you stop breathing as your addled brain tells you that you don't need to breathe any more.
