A member asked:

I have gastritis for two months, which got worse recently. doctors told me to follow a diet and take some drugs, but i dont see much improvement. its not due h. pylori but due to improper diet and stress. could this be chronic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gastritis: Classic gastritis responds nicely to ppi medications like prilosec or nexium or the other class of medications like zantac or pepcid. Other important measures are bland diet, avoidance of caffeine, alcohol and nicotine. You may not be dealing with gastritis so I recommend a consultation with a gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment. Appropriate tests will be done.
