Start recumbent: Using an upright bike will put more pressure on your knee while it is healing and is not recommended, while a recumbent bike has less pressure and helps to keep range of motion of joint and maintain muscle tone. So, start with recumbent bike after surgery. When the knee is feeling better and stronger, then you can shift to an upright bike.
