A member asked:

Cbc normal except for rbc. normal up to 5.8. many years i alternate from 5.7 to 5.9. hgb, hct, platelets always normal range. is this a problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Having a RBC count at the upper end of normal is not a problem especially if it has remained stable. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
