Doesn't Exist: There is no one best diet for a healthy fitness, a lot depends on how you are starting, your medical issues and genetics. However, many studies have showed fad diets just do not work or work for a while but not long term. For most people a balanced diet is the best! The Mediterranean Diet does seem to offer good general health benefits. More grains, unsaturated fats, moderate red meat, less sugar:

No single best but:: There is no consensus, even among "experts"; no single diet is best for everyone as we have different needs based on genetics. I advise emphasizing organic vegetables, fruits and nuts & seeds; eat whole foods; avoid fried foods, sugars and artificial chemicals.
