I started penicillin vk 500mg for strep throat on wednesday night. i feel better than i did, but my throat has some soreness still. is this normal?

Yes: I'm glad you are getting treated and it sounds like the strep is responding to the Penicillin. It takes a while for the throat to heal even once the germs are gone. Stay the course. Contact your doctor if the symptoms RETURN after clearing or fail to clear completely.
