A dentist is the: type of doctor to see, and please do so as soon as you can. You may have an infection and need to catch it as early as possible. Peace and good health.

Swollen gum: There is no way to say for sure without a visual exam. It could be a gum abscess, a tooth abcess, a response to an injury. You haven't said how long it's been swollen, whether it bleeds, whether it's painful. Make an appointment with your dentist to have it examined.

Good for you: Glad you' ex never had a dental problem before. I trust you have been having regular dental care to reduce the risk of problems occurring. Even so, occasionally problems arise. So take advantedge of your Dentists 10,000+ hours of training and years of experience. Call for an appointment. The computer can't fix this for you, your a Dentist can.
