The roof of my mouth behind my top teeth is swollen and so are the gums in front of my top teeth but just one section and it hurts what could it be?

Gingivitis: This could be gingivitis, which is infection of gums. I would advice that you should get it checked by your dentist.

Sounds like: an abscess. The cause could be from food trapped under the tissue to an infected tooth in need of a root canal. See your dentist ASAP to determine which it is and have it taken care of; either is a simple fix.

Inflammation: Most common cause is infection, either tooth, gum, or both. May also be from burn or trauma Please see your Dentist to determine cause and thus appropriate treatment.

Contact DDS: See your dentist to rule out any periodontal issues that would cause swollen gums. A burn from food may also cause the area behind the front teeth to feel sore. Have your dentist determine the cause of your discomfort.
