Inflammation: If it has been a long time since you had your teeth cleaned, there may be tartar and calculus below your gumline. This can cause the gums in the area to swell. Other possibilities are food stuck below the gumline or even an abscessed tooth that needs to be treated. Whichever it is, your best bet is to schedule a visit to your dentist and have it properly diagnosed and treated.

Couple possibilities: It could be that the lower front teeth are hitting the gums causing some irritation. It could be that something is stuck under the gum, or it could be a sign of periodontal or gum disease. If it does not go away in a few days, i would suggest that you see your dentist.
