Vitamin C: In patients who have documented Ascorbic Acid deficiency or scurvy, i start 1000 mg for 2 months then take them down to 500 mg daily. If there is no documented deficiency and we are just treating a patient with anemia or malabsorption like after gastric bypass surgery then 500 mg daily vitamin c is the right dose.

It depends...: There is no consensus among medical professionals. The us rda is 60-95 mg/day but the vitamin c foundation advises 1000 mg 3x/day, whereas expert thomas levy md advises 6000-12, 000 mg/day! it also depends on the type you take- 1, 000 mg of liposomal c=8, 000 other forms! see http://www.Vitamincfoundation.Org/vitcrda.Shtml & http://www.Vitamincfoundation.Org/basics.Shtml & http://www.Tomlevymd.Com/.
