Need more info: As you may know, Pamelor (nortriptyline) has been approved for Major Depression for a long time. That said, in my career, I've seen the same medication react completely differently in similar patients. So, it's best to have a discussion with your doctor about what's going on. One note though - this medication causes sedation so taking it at night is part of the key to success. Hope that helps!

Nortriptyline: Nortriptyline is an antidepressant - so it is used to treat depression. It can cause agitation or anxiety in some. Antidepressants were in one study blamed for potentially causing suicidal ideation in young people. I have not personally seen Nortiptyline cause depression - but I guess theorectically there could be a paradoxical reaction.
