A member asked:

My calprotectin is 59. other than occasional mild cramps, no diarrhea, constipation, blood or other symptoms. other labs all normal. colonoscopy time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: I'm not sure why you had a fecal calprotectin performed if you have no symptoms other than cramping. Levels are elevated in inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. If you have a family history of ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease a colonoscopy could be considered, but will likely be of low yield without additional symptoms.
