A member asked:

Do i need to see my doctor for mucus in stool? been a few years since it began, normal color stool, no blood or weight loss, normal blood work. sometimes have cramps & alternating between diarrhea and constipation. ibs? 24 yo female.

See below: If you suspect you have IBS, it would be useful to see a doctor. Mucus per se is not a reason to see your doctor. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health!
