In what ways are the concentrations of ldl and hdl associated with the risk of heart disease?

Cholesterol: Cholesterol has multiple components. The high density component is called 'good' and the low density component is called 'bad'. This is because high levels of HDL are somewhat associated with less vascular disease and high levels of LDL are associated with worse vascular disease.
