No: If your ldl, HDL and tg are completely within ideal limits (i.e. Ldl < 100, HDL > 50, tg < 100), there is no need for nmr. Nmr is needed in unusual lipid profile and early family history of coronary disease (in the 40s).

With this, your doctor can make more accurate treatment decisions. You might want this because about 50% of heart attacks occur in those with good readings, and if you have other issues like diabetes, your risk goes up.
