Orthodontic tx: If the tooth removed is a third molar (it indicated here that you're 18 years old), and just recently have your braces, it depends on your case and how the doctor will approach the given condition (esp in case of crowding). Don't hesitate to ask your doctor :).

Treatment Plan: A treatment plan has been established by your orthodontist. They know exactly how your teeth will move into place. Ask your orthodontist what to expect as your case progresses.

Not a problem: You can absolutely close a space from a missing upper first molar with orthodontic treatment. Ask your orthodontist about Temporary Anchorage Device. Good luck.

Purpose of braces..: The purpose of the braces is to move your teeth into a better position. You had a tooth extracted (most likely a premolar, not a molar) so that the orthodontist has enough room to move the remaining teeth into proper position. Part of the orthodontic plan should be to "close up" that space as the other teeth are moved. Ask your orthodontist to clarify your treatment plan with you.

Orthodontist: I'm assuming you are seeing a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist. The Orthodontist has examined you, taken and evaluated Orthodontic records, and has decided on your individualized treatment plan. Only your Orthodontist has the information required to answer your question.
