About

Bio

I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) from NYU Dental School in 1987 and completed my pediatric dentistry specialty training from Eastman Dental Center in 1989. My specialty training included treating children with special needs, dental phobias, and medically compromised children.  I have been practicing pediatric dentistry in the village of Huntington since 1990 and currently lecture on the proper, safe use of fluoride to other dental professionals throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Specialties
Doctors may have more than one area of specialty interest. Board certification in a specialty area means the doctor has completed formal training and has practice experience in that specialty, and has passed the certification examination from the corresponding accredited medical specialty board.

A 35-year-old female asked:

Yes, definitely: Use an infant sized toothbrush with extra-soft bristles. Use either an infant toothpaste with no fluoride or a rice sized smear of a fluoride toothpaste. Brush twice a day. Each time you brush start in a different area of the mouth. That way in case you don’t get everything done each time, the areas you do brush will overlap. They should start seeing a Pediatric Dentist now.

By 12 months old: The american academy of pediatric dentistry recommends that babies have their first visit to their pediatric dentist when they get their first tooth or by one years old. Many pediatric dental offices, like mine, do not charge for well baby dental visits up to 24 months old. This allows you and your child to get a good start on preventive dental care that will last a lifetime.
A 23-year-old female asked:

TMJ dysfunction: The muscles and ligaments that cause your jaw to move are not working smoothly. If you chew gum you should stop. Eat softer foods next 2-3 weeks. Apply moist heat to the joint area. Stress plays a big role in triggering TMJ problems. Find activities to help reduce your stress level. For acute episodes a physical therapist may be able to help. Your dentist can offer more detailed help.
