Referral: As an Endocrinologist myself I strongly recommend that you ask your doctor to refer you to a local Endocrinologist. What troubles you such that you want to see an Endocrinologist?

It depends on: your insurance plan. Some may require a referral from your primary care doc in order to see a specialist, others may not. Is your problem clearly an endocrinologic one? It may help to begin with your PCP in any case.
