Thyroid nodules may require a biopsy after a radioactive iodine test, and ENT physicians can perform the biopsy and/or removal of the thyroid nodule if indicated.

The ENT (ear, nose, and throat specialist) would be an expert in performing any biopsy of your nodule you might need. He or she would also have experience removing the nodule, if necessary, without damaging other important structures in your neck. You might need an endocrinologist later if you need to take thyroid hormones long-term.
