Do not worry: A bone spur on top of the patella is a sign of chronic inflammation of the quadriceps tendon and may be seen in patients that sustain a quadriceps tendon rupture--most often men in their 40s and 50s. Most bone spurs rarely involve the joint and their presence alone does not warrant surgery. With physical activity, proper warm up and a cool down period that includes gentle stretching can help.
