ACL tears: Its unfortunate that both are once again torn. You need the ACL for joint stability otherwise you will have to wear a knee stabilizer. I think repeat surgery is a reasonable option. You will have to be extremely careful once this is done.

Typical: Not sure what tendon they used on your first repairs, either cadaver or your hamstring, but patellar tendon is very commonly used. Make sure you do the physical therapy to strengthen the quads and hamstrings and the knee joint before and after the surgery.
