Protein shake: A weightlifter needs about 1-1.2 grams of protein for every kilogram of body weight (g/kg). My experience is that most americans have plenty of protein in their diet. He should count the grams of protein in his diet to make sure supplementation is necessary. Too much protein may be an expensive way to getting too many calories. This will lead to fat accumulation instead of weight loss.
