See hand specialist: There are many reasons for this. You need to see and orthopaedic surgeon. Early on this can be due to just pain and swelling. It can be from nerve injury from the time of the accident. It can be from excessive swelling if it is new and needs to be evaluated. There should without more history however, the best answer is to see the orthopaedic surgeon for an exam and recommendations.

Let me explian: When people fracture their wrist and have cast on they developed swelling in the finger quit often. Have your mom keep her hand elevated most the time, massage her finger to reduce the swelling . Be sure the cast is not tight around the wrist. Good luck.
