Yes: This is common. Remove any jewelry you may be wearing on your fingers/ wrist. Use ice, compression, & elevation to decrease swelling. Elevating your hand will cause gravity to pull it towards the elbow, but ideally you should elevate above your heart whenever possible. Also, depending on the type of fracture finger motion may be an acceptable way to try & move some of the swelling.

Yes: Very normal for your fingers to swell for the first week. Constant elevation, and even some ice on your hand should help.
