Why are vitamins an important part of daily nutrient intake?

Vitamins are needed factors in the thousands of chemical reactions that take place in your body continuously. An example is vitamin K that helps your blood clot or B12 that is required for blood and nerve health. Your body parts/tissue wear out and are replaced in complex processes. While some of their parts are recycled, vitamins are often lost after use and must be replaced.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. In addition to vitamins there are certain minerals also needed for optimum health. The major ones being iron and calcium. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Wish you good health!
