A member asked:

Blood in stool, not hemorrhoids or obvious fissure. advice on what to do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See a doctor: I'm glad you asked this. Blood in the stool should prompt a visit to a doctor. Most of the time it is not something serious but the only way to be sure is to be seen. A surgeon or gastroenterologist can do an exam and may do a full colonoscopy. Hemorrhoids are the most common cause of bleeding per rectum but there are other sources. Be smart and be seen.
