Start with dumbells!: Your basic strength exercises do not need free weights. Abdominal crunches, pushups, jump-squats, etc. But dumbells are a versatile start. I advise women to get 3, 5, and 10lb dumbells in pairs to exercise with and begin a weight training regimen! lunges wih dumbells are great for the legs. You can dodeltoid raises, bench pressing, overhead press, curls, etc!
