Is surgery d only solution to fibriod, especially when menopause is close?

Recommendations: It is not, but if it was recommended by your doctor probably it is the best option. All depends on the size of fibroid, rate of growth and coexisting problems.

No. Consider UFE: Uterine fibroid embolization is an alternative to surgery. A small device(catheter) is guided to the arteries feeding your fibroids and small particles are used to cut off blood flow and the fibroids die. This is done under x-ray guidance by an interventional radiologist. The risks are very low and the success is high with a much shorter recovery period than surgery.

Medicine: Medical therapy is the first line treatment, no matter what your age is.

Just wait.: 50% of women have at least one small fibroid. At menopause, they usually shrink by themselves so wait. Even if you are having symptoms, like pain, heavy menses or urinary frequency patience may pay off. If there is rapid growth, which is rare, surgery may be indicated. If you have abnormal bleeding an endometrial biopsy may be all you need. Medical therapy is preferred if you need any treatment.
