First to clarify, a hysterectomy will stop periods but true menopause occurs when the ovaries stop working (or are removed). Depending on your symptoms removal of fibroids may not even be necessary, but there are various procedures to surgically remove them. They can also be treated with cautery, high energy ultrasound, or blocking their blood supply. Finally, there are medical treatments.
