Ovaries are the key: If the ovaries are left in, hysterectomy will not cause you to go into menopause. Talk to your doctor about whether or not he or she plans to remove them, and if so, discuss the issue and make sure you are both on the same page.

Not necessarily. : The symptoms of menopause are cause by a lack of ovarian hormones. If your ovaries are still producing hormones, and only your uterus is removed, then it is unlikely that you will start menopause.

No: Hysterectomy refers only to the uterus so a total hysterectomy removes the uterus & cervix. If the ovaries are not removed this should not cause menopause although the reduction in blood flow to the ovaries can lead to ovarian dysfunction which might result in menopausal symptoms.
