Re-evaluate: Sometimes a particular antibiotic might not be as effective as we expect. Changing to another type of antibiotic might help. However antibiotics usually just diminish the lesion. Proper diagnosis and treatment must be implemented. If a lesion persists more that 2-3 weeks a biopsy for proper diagnosis by an oral pathologist might be the next step.

Solution temporary: The antibiotics most likely have caused a decrease in swelling to alleviate the pain but not the source of the infection. Keep your appointment and call the office if the infection returns to its previous level before the appointment.

See your dentist: To eliminate infection, the abscess may need to be drained. A tooth abscess won't resolve without treatment. Good luck.
